Tim, Josie and I recently took a trip with our extended family to 30A (an area of beach towns in Florida) for a family wedding. Because we were traveling there for a wedding, we decided to extend our stay a bit and explore the area. After visiting, I now understand the hype of 30A. Today, I’m sharing what I wore in 30A, and some baby items to pack for a beach vacation.
If you’re ever headed to the Charleston area, I did an outfit recap from our trip this past March found HERE.

What I Wore in 30A
We stayed in the Rosemary Beach area, and loved that many restaurants and shops were walkable from our condo we stayed in. If you want to see a full tour of where we stayed, I saved it to my Instagram highlight HERE.
I’ve heard many say that it’s typically very crowded in the 30A area. But we didn’t find that to be the case. I think that’s because we missed the spring break crowd and didn’t go during the summer. So if you’re wanting to experience the area with less crowds, I’d recommend going in late April or early May.
The weather was beautiful while we were there. It’s usually low 80s during the day at this time of the year, but can get chilly during the evenings and mornings – especially with the breeze from the ocean. So it’s best to pack layers for those chillier times too.
Walk to Morning Coffee

For morning walks on the beach and coffee runs, I wore these Free People run shorts with a cropped sweatshirt. It’s a little brisk in the morning, so this was the perfect combination. These running shoes are very comfortable and love the blush pink color of them. They’re great for walking or running. To finish the look, I suggest carrying a small bag like a belt bag to carry your necessities in, when you’re out exploring.
Evening Out to Dinner

For dinner out, I wore this white mini dress. I love white in the spring and summer, especially near a beach. It’s light and easy to style. These pearl sandals have become a go-to casual slide for me. I wore them every day on the trip because they’re comfortable and cute. They’re a jelly material so they’re great to wear to the beach. This exact white dress is almost sold out, but linked to a few other white dress options too.

Tim and I went on a casual date night on this particular evening. I wore my white Zimmermann shorts (exact pair sold out) with an Express bodysuit. I got a size 2 in the shorts and altered them to fit perfectly. I’m wearing a medium in the bodysuit, but could use a small. The Express bodysuits aren’t to be missed. The material is really nice and well-lined, and love styling them with shorts, jeans and skirts.
An Afternoon Lunch and Shopping

The area has some of the cutest little shops and restaurants. So if you want to take a break from the sun and the beach, head out for an afternoon of shopping and lunch. This white maxi dress is a great option to wear. Though I’d suggest wearing the pearl slide sandals, if you’re going shopping. Then, change into the heeled sandals for dinner. I wore this white dress for family photos oh the beach, too!
Wedding Guest Dress at the Beach

I wore this dress to the wedding we attended while in Florida. It fits beautifully, and it’s comfortable to wear. I love the halter neckline because it doesn’t drop down in the back, so I can wear a regular bra. I’m wearing my normal size 6 and comes in four colors. I paired a heeled sandal with the dress.
A Day at the Beach

This was a fun beach day with my girl. I wore a nursing-friendly one piece with a white ruffle skort. You’ll also need a pair of sunglasses and sunhat for extra protection. Josie is wearing a coordinating long sleeve one piece and a ton of sunscreen. 🙂
Travel Must Haves
I rounded up my travel essentials in this collage. Packing cubes are a game changer for travel. They don’t necessarily save on space, but they keep you organized. I don’t typically unpack my bags when were staying at a hotel or AirBnB, so these cubes serve as an organizational system. You can back your daily outfit in each one or put different categories of clothing in each like pajamas in one, tops in one etc.
Baby Essentials for a Beach Vacay
Shop Baby Essentials
I feel like you learn something new every time you travel with a baby. On this trip, one of the best things we brought was this little mat for Josie to sit on while we were in the sand. We still had to keep a good eye on her to make sure she didn’t eat the sand. But it was nice to keep her mostly out of it.
If you’re not staying at a resort or hotel that supplies umbrellas, I suggest purchasing one or renting one while at the beach. That way, you can keep the baby out of the sun as much as possible.
We also brought this handy chair for Josie to sit in for meals. It’s compact enough to bring to restaurants if you wanted too.
Here are some other items I’ve found that are needed while traveling with a little one.
For babies:
- Bouncer seat
- Sound machine
- Pack and play/ travel crib
- Food (we used pouches)
- Water cup
- Wipes and diapers obvs lol
- Carrier
For newborns:
- Carrier
- Bouncer seat if they have reflux
- Pack and play
- Sound machine if you use one
- Muslin blanket to use as sun protection
