It’s that time of year again, swimsuit season! I know just how daunting it can be to try to find the perfect bathing suits for the summer season. It’s worse than trying to find the perfect pair of jeans. Not to mention, it seems that there is less and less fabric each year, making the challenge all that more complicated. But I’m about to put your mind at ease. I’ve scoured the internet and sharing a complete roundup of the best swimsuits for different body types! I’m including both one pieces and bikinis. I also discuss some popular brands of affordable and high-end, designer swimwear.
A Complete Roundup of the Best Swimsuits this Season
There are so many different swimsuit brands to choose from. They all range in price and style, and sometimes it’s hard to sift through them all. Below are some of the most popular brands for purchasing affordable swimwear.
Popular Brands for Affordable Swimwear
Aerie is a great option for affordable swimwear that’s high-quality, on-trend and size inclusive. I love that they have models of different sizes to see how the swimsuit would look on different body types. Aerie is so invested in helping you find the perfect suit to fit your wants and needs that they have a swimsuit 101 page explaining the different styles of suits they offer.
Cupshe is another popular brand for affordable swimwear with most of their suits being $35 or under. You can purchase this brand through their website, and they also have a pretty big selection on Amazon. They too are a size-inclusive brand with size selections up to 4X.
H&M has been a long-time favorite of mine for affordable, on-trend clothing. And their swimwear is no exception. I love that this brand is aiming for all of their products to be made from sustainably-sourced materials such as organic cotton by 2030, which includes their swimwear. So if you’re looking to be a bit more eco-friendly when it comes to fashion, look for the green hang tag throughout their website.
I couldn’t leave out Target in this roundup of affordable swimwear retailers. Ever since I can remember, Target has always had a wide selection of styles and prints of swimwear. Their sizes range from XS to 4X, and offer great price points for the quality of the suits.
Below I rounded up some of the cute one-piece swimsuits I’ve been eyeing. I love all the pastels, pinks and gorgeous floral prints I’ve been seeing. I also think the color block swimwear options are beautiful, like the one in the collage below with the pinks and whites. It’s a pretty way to wear pops of color without it looking too busy.
best one-piece swimsuits
My body has a changed a bit since having Josie, and wanted to see what swimsuits would work best for me. I had a lot of luck with Target’s swimwear, particularly the brand Kona Sol at Target.
I love that one pieces have made such a huge comeback. They are perfect for those days when you need a little extra coverage!
Each swimsuit in the four photos below are from Target, and each is a medium. I was very impressed with the quality and how comfortable I felt in these swimsuits.
The top two one-piece suits have a gorgeous floral print. I don’t know what it is, but a one-shoulder style feels so chic with swimwear. It fits true to size, and has an adjustable strap in the back.
The second photo’s swimsuit looks like it came straight out of J.Crew. I love the ruffle detail on each of the straps. Plus the straps are adjustable to get that perfect fit. If you’re between sizes, I’d size up in this one.
If you’re looking to stick to more solid-colored suits, the mauve one piece might be a nice option. The detailing on each strap gives it just enough detail without overpowering the suit. And it has the sweetest little bow-tie detail at the middle of the back.
If you want a little more of a modest swimsuit, I rounded up some options above. To go along with your swimsuit, don’t forget to pack a straw bag with all your beach/pool essentials. For a roundup of the best summer straw bags, you don’t want to miss this post here.
If you want to go from the pool or beach to lunch, try wearing these gorgeous flowy pants and braided sandals. Finish the look with a straw sun hat.
best two-piece swimsuits
When it comes to finding the perfect two-piece swimsuit, I always look for ones that offer great support. I want to make sure everything stays in its right place, but I don’t want to sacrifice style. I find that some are either too cheeky, too high-cut or just not enough material in general on them. But all of these options are a perfect blend of comfort and style.
Styling Your Swimsuit for the Beach
When planning your next pool day or beach vacation, don’t forget about your summer essentials. Mine are always a great sunhat, my Tory Burch Miller sandals (read my review on those here), my favorite Karen Walker sunglasses and a great cover up!
Here are a few ways I like to style a swimsuit below!
Popular Brands for High-End Swimwear
If you’re looking for a more high-end swimwear brand to shop or you want to invest in a designer suit, here are a few brands I’d recommend.
Summersalt is known for the high-quality material and eye catching, color blocking. Once you see a Summersalt suit in person, you understand the hype. I love that many of their suits have built-in pads, so they’re not constantly falling out in the washer or dryer. They also offer a longer torso option for their one pieces, which is nice if you have a tough time with the fit of some one pieces.
Frankies Bikinis is a designer-inspired swimwear brand. The founder is a Malibu-native, and seeks inspiration from high-fashion runways. There are bikinis added daily to their website, so be sure to check back often for new styles.
Andrea Iyamah is a fashion brand created by Nigerian fashion designer, Andrea Dumebi Iyamah. The brand takes inspiration from ethnic cultures and scenes of nature. The brand’s suits have a modern twist with timeless silhouettes, which delivers a truly magical work of art.
Jade Swim is a minimalist and sustainable swimwear line that aims to deliver swimwear that easily transitions from beach to night. The brand uses fabrics made from ECONYL, using 100 percent regenerated nylon. You won’t find wild and crazy patterns in their swimwear line. But there’s a reason for it. They only offer solid-colored fabrics because it doesn’t require excessive water usage as it does to create a pattern.
