With the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale right around the corner, I’m rounding up and reviewing some of my favorite items I already own that are included in the sale this year.

I like to make classic, timeless investments in my wardrobe during this sale. That’s where you really get the best bang for your buck because you’re not only saving money on staples, but you’re also making smart cost-per-wear decisions when it comes to your wardrobe budget.

If you’re not sure where to start on your wishlist, these are my top recommendations for you!

Reviewing Items I Already Own in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (Good and Bad!)

Coats and Layers I Own and Love

A staple coat is one of the most important wardrobe investments you can make for your wardrobe. I mean think about it.. your coat is going to make or break your outfits throughout the Fall and Winter because it’s what you primarily see.

Brooks Wrap Coat

I can already tell y’all are excited about this one in the sale! It’s been a highly clicked-on item from the NSALE lookbook. I purchased a Reiss wrap coat last fall, and it’s been a great investment in my wardrobe that I know I will continue wearing year after year. A camel coat will never go out of style! I recommend getting your normal coat size (I got a size 6).

How To

How to Style a Camel Coat

Ever since I scored this Reiss camel coat in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I’ve wanted to do a camel coat roundup because it’s such a wardrobe staple. A camel wool coat will never go out of style, and creates a..

Cashmere Poncho

This layering piece feels like a dream on. I fell in love with cashmere last fall because it’s such a soft, breathable fabric that will keep you warm without added bulk. If you have any questions on how to care for cashmere, I wrote about how I wash mine at home in this post.

Cashmere Scarf

This is a must-have closet essential in my book. I have a similar option from J. Crew and I use it year-round! Even in the summer, I bring it along with me to restaurants because they all blast the air conditioning and I get cold. If you need a layer for a nicer event or wedding, I would also recommend draping this over your shoulders. Another time it comes in handy is traveling. I took it with me to Hawaii and was so glad I had it for our overnight flight back home. Tim and I were both freezing and we both used it as a blanket!

Vince Cashmere and Wool Coatigan

This was my favorite purchase from the sale last year. It’s very thick and warm and of course, super cozy. It runs very generously, so I recommend sizing down (I got an XS and still have room to layer with underneath). I store mine folded with my sweaters and it’s held up beautifully the last year. Since it’s cashmere and wool, you will need to take a depiller to it from time to time if it rubs against a bag.

Staple Clothing Items I Own and Love

Ottoman Slouchy Sweater

I have no doubts this is going to be the most popular item in the sale this year. So if it’s on your wishlist, I wouldn’t leave it in your cart for very long. For size reference, I’m 5’5” and 135 pounds, and I wear a size small. It has a fitted sleeve and a looser, almost sweater dress fit through the waist and hips. It’s long enough to wear with leggings, but it’s too short for me to wear as a dress. I wear mine weekly (if not multiple times a week TBH), during the fall and winter.

Crewneck Long Sleeve Tee

This is a great basic in the sale under $25. It’s ultra-soft and slightly thin, so it’s really nice to layer with. You do need to wear a seamless bra underneath (I recommend this one!) and it runs tts.

Perfect Vintage Jeans

These are my favorite jeans, and they’re under $100 in the sale. I sized down from my normal to a 27. They have a little stretch to them when you sit but are very flattering in the lower stomach area (aka the mom pooch). These are a classic that won’t go out of style.

We the Free Arden Extra Long Cotton Top

I bought this top in the sale in 2020 and honestly haven’t reached for it very much. I think if I purchased in white I would have. It’s a very long basic that will definitely keep you covered in leggings.

Spanx Faux Leather Leggings

I’ve styled these so many ways over the years! If you head to the outfits page and filter leggings, you can find a few of my favorite outfits there (I’m working on adding more). You can also search the blog for Spanx to find more outfit ideas with them! In the sale they are a better deal than my typical 10% off promo code (AMANDAJOHNxSPANX). I definitely recommend to size up! I wear a medium.

Athleisure and Lounge

Booty Boost Leggings

These are my all-time favorite leggings. Something about them is so flatting in the hips, butt, and thighs and nothing else can compete! I wear a medium in Spanx leggings.

Bralette

I recommend this bralette to everyone! It’s so comfortable you won’t even know it’s there. It’s also seamless under tops. I usually always sleep in these and they’re a go-to of mine around the house.

Spanx Tennis Dress

I was so excited to see this in the sale this year. This tennis dress is the best because the back of the shorts aren’t attached. You can pull them down to use the restroom instead of completely undressing. I can wear both the small and medium in this dress. The small fits tighter around the top, and the medium fits me looser in the waist.

Shoes AND ACCESSORIES

Barefoot Dreams Blanket

Unless you’re new around here then you already know how I feel about this blanket lol. I’ve had mine for 5 years and use it every day and night! So cost per wear wise if you can consider a blanket in this way), it’s been more than worth the splurge!

Adidas Ultraboost

These are my favorite walking shoes and I’ve repurchased them multiple times! They run bigger, so if between size down half from your typical running shoe size.

ON Cloudswift

These are also very comfortable, but now as “cloud-like” as the Ultraboost IMO! I wear these more with athleisure looks for errands or if I’m outside with Josie. They run a little smaller, so if between size up half.

Loeffler Randall Bow Sandal

I own a similar style to these in the sale and I always get asked about them when I wear them! They’re a go-to fun shoe of mine and are surprisingly very wearable. I wore mine to my baby shower, for family photos, parties, date night, etc. They run small, unless you have a very narrow foot I recommend sizing up half. This isn’t a shoe I wear on repeat, but it is extra fun when I pull them out for something special! See a review of a similar style, here!

Michele Watch

I splurged on this watch in 2020 and I still think it’s one of the best investment items in the sale! Because of the price point, you’re saving hundreds off retail price.

Cult Gaia Clutch

I honestly haven’t used this much in the last year that I’ve had it. It doesn’t fit my iPhone pro max with a case on it, and since it’s very structured you can only fit a few essentials inside. But it is a very fun, statement piece for the right occasion.
