With the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale right around the corner, I’m rounding up and reviewing some of my favorite items I already own that are included in the sale this year.

I like to make classic, timeless investments in my wardrobe during this sale each yea. That’s where you really get the best bang for your buck because you’re not only saving money on staples, but you’re also making smart cost-per-wear decisions when it comes to your wardrobe budget.

If you’re not sure where to start on your wishlist, these are my top recommendations for you!

Reviewing Items I Already Own in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (Good and Bad!)

Coats and Layers I Own and Love

A staple coat is one of the most important wardrobe investments you can make for your wardrobe. I mean think about it.. your coat is going to make or break your outfits throughout the Fall and Winter because it’s what you primarily see.

Reiss Emile Belted Wrap Coat

I can already tell y’all are excited about this one in the sale! It’s been a highly clicked-on item from the NSALE lookbook. I purchased a Reiss wrap coat two years ago, and it’s been a great investment in my wardrobe that I know I will continue wearing year after year. A camel coat will never go out of style! I recommend getting your normal coat size for a tailored fit, size up if you want room to layer thicker sweaters (I got a size 6).

Cashmere Poncho

This layering piece feels like a dream on. I fell in love with cashmere because it’s such a soft, breathable fabric that will keep you warm without added bulk. If you have any questions on how to care for cashmere, I wrote about how I wash mine at home in this post.

Cashmere Scarf

This is a must-have closet essential in my book. I have a similar option from J. Crew and I use it year-round! Even in the summer, I bring it along with me to restaurants because they all blast the air conditioning and I get cold. If you need a layer for a nicer event or wedding, I would also recommend draping this over your shoulders. Another time it comes in handy is traveling. I took it with me to Hawaii and was so glad I had it for our overnight flight back home. Tim and I were both freezing and we both used it as a blanket! I never travel without it now.

The J. Crew scarf is a tad softer if I had to compare them (and it’s currently on sale in select colors, too), but this one in the sale is a better price point. You can’t go wrong with either, and I promise you’ll reach for it more than you expect to!

Staple Clothing Items I Own and Love

The Hustler Frayed Ankle Jeans

These jeans are one of my top recommendations from the sale. I own them in white and a dark wash and they’re my most reached for jeans. The fit is truly better than most other brands I’ve tried – especially if you want something that is comfortable to sit in without stretching out. I wear a 28 in these!

free people turtleneck sweater

Every year the Free People sweaters are a hot item in the sale, so I expect this one to be a top seller. It’s been in the sale a few times the last few years. It’s oversized and slouchy.. perfect to wear with leggings.

Crewneck Long Sleeve Tee

This is a great basic in the sale under $25. It’s ultra-soft and slightly thin, so it’s really nice to layer with. You do need to wear a seamless bra underneath (I recommend this one!) and it runs tts.

We the Free Arden Extra Long Cotton Top

I bought this top in the sale in 2020 and honestly haven’t reached for it very much. I think if I purchased in white I would have reached for it more. It’s a very long basic that will definitely keep you covered in leggings. I would recommend this one instead – it’s cheaper and not quite as long!

Spanx Faux Leather Leggings

I’ve styled these so many ways over the years! If you head to the outfits page and filter leggings, you can find a few of my favorite outfits there (I’m working on adding more). You can also search the blog for Spanx to find more outfit ideas with them! In the sale they are a better deal than my typical 10% off promo code (AMANDAJOHNxSPANX). I definitely recommend to size up! I wear a medium.

Canyon Denim Skirt

I bought this in the sale last year and wore it more than I expected to during the fall season. I love the button details and it’s a great transitional piece.

Athleisure and Lounge

Booty Boost Leggings

These are my all-time favorite leggings. Something about them is so flatting in the hips, butt, and thighs and nothing else can compete! I wear a medium in Spanx leggings. I especially recommend if you want to feel more confident in shorter tops or if you’ll be postpartum – these gave me a much needed confidence boost the first year after Josie.

Bralette

I recommend this bralette to everyone! It’s so comfortable you won’t even know it’s there. It’s also seamless under tops. I usually always sleep in these and they’re a go-to of mine around the house.

Spanx Tennis SKORT

I was so excited to see this in the sale this year. This tennis skort has been my go to for 2 years and it still looks new. You can’t beat the fit and quality of Spanx so it’s a great time to get some pieces on sale! My discount is normally just 10% off.

Live In Pocket Joggers

I have these in blue but want to get the cream color this year. They’re a thinner material, which is perfect for me here in Georgia. They’re TTS (I wear a small) and great for travel and casual weekend looks.

Shoes AND ACCESSORIES

Barefoot Dreams Blanket

Unless you’re new around here then you already know how I feel about this blanket lol. I’ve had mine for 5 years and use it every day and night! So cost per wear wise if you can consider a blanket in this way), it’s been more than worth the splurge years ago!

22-Inch Expandable Carry-On Roller

I’ve been a fan of the Beis luggage since I got mine in 2019, and over the years the family has, too! I got Josie a pink one in 2021, and was excited to see it back in the sale! This years version has a glossy finish. It’s been all over the world with me and I’ve been very happy with it!

Pura 4 Smart Fragrance DIFFUSER

I bought this set in the sale in 2020, and have been a fan ever since! I love that I can control the strength and schedule on my phone. I have mine set in different areas of the house depending on the time of day (for example, the kitchen schedule starts around the time I’m up and getting breakfast). I also schedule it before I have guest arriving and they always ask me what the scent is! It would be a really great gift idea, too.

Michele Watch

I splurged on this watch in 2020 and I still think it’s one of the best investment items in the sale! Because of the price point, you’re saving hundreds off retail price.
