I recently shared a classic and feminine fall capsule wardrobe that included a cardigan as a staple piece. One of my favorite recent cardigan finds is the J.Crew Juliette Cardigan. With pieces like this, it can be hard decide what size to order, if you’re not shopping in-store. So today I’m sharing how to style the J.Crew Juliette Cardigan, plus trying three different sizes for size comparison.
I also rounded up my top 10 fall essentials for your wardrobe in this post HERE.
How to Style the J.Crew Juliette Cardigan
Before we dive into the size comparison, let’s talk a little bit more about the Juliette cardigan overall. It features two pockets on the front with an open-cascading front, and an ultra cozy knit fabric. It’s a mid-length cardigan, so definitely legging friendly. And, it comes in two other colors – a gray and black. Finally, it comes in sizes XXSmall to 3X.
The cardigan is made from 35% wool, 35% cotton, 30% polyester. So it will keep you warmer without the bulk!
How Does the Juliette Cardigan Fit
SMALL
This is my normal size and the fit is large and oversized. If you want to wear it as a light overcoat, get your normal size
XS
This is one size down from my normal and has a nice, casual fit. There is room for sweaters underneath
XXS
This is 2 sizes down from my normal and has a close fit in the arms. If you want to wear it as a cardigan with a closer fit, size down 2 sizes.

For the size comparison, I tried the small, XS, and XXS. The photo shows those respective sizes. If you want to watch my Instagram highlight about the cardigan sizing, you can find that HERE.
First, I tried my normal size small (first photo on the left), and it’s pretty oversized. It covers most of my outfit and looks more casual compared to the other two sizes. There’s lots of room to layer underneath it. If you want it to be very oversized or wear thick sweaters underneath, get your normal size.
The next size I tried was the XS (middle picture above), which fit more like I thought the small would have fit. It has plenty of room to layer underneath and fits a little roomier. If you want something in between a close cardigan fit and something really oversized, I recommend sizing down just one size.
The first size I tried was the XXS (far right in the image above). This is two sizes down from my normal size small, and the one I decided to keep. When I think about how I want to wear this, I intend to wear it more like a cardigan, not necessarily a coat or over big sweaters. It fits close to the arms, but can still layer a long sleeve t-shirt or white cotton button-down shirt underneath. It also looks a little more streamlined through the body.
Outfit Ideas Styling The Juliette Cardigan for Fall
White Jeans and a Cashmere Sweater
Shop the Look
The first outfit idea styling the Juliette cardigan is a cashmere sweater with white jeans. Because this sweater is thinner, the XXS (two sizes down from my normal size) still works well. To keep the overall look light and airy, I opted to pair white jeans with the cardigan. Finish the look with neutral booties.
Jeans and a White Button Down

For an elevated casual look, pair straight jeans and a white button down underneath the sweater. If you have casual Fridays at work, this would make the perfect outfit to wear. These two-tone block heels are one of my favorite pairs of slingbacks because they’re classic, chic and feminine. Trade out the jeans for trousers, and you’re ready for a day at the office.
Outfit Idea for the Office

If you want a legs-for-days look, try a high-rise trouser with a flare bottom. These are running low on stock but linked a few similar options too. To layer underneath the Juliette cardigan, wear a high-neck bodysuit or tank for a seamless layering piece.
Fitted Dress and BoMoots
Shop the Look
Though I don’t typically wear black, this is one of my favorite bodycon dresses I found recently in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. And it’s been a best seller on and off since then too. To streamline the look, I like to wear knee-high boots with midi length dresses. Complete the look with the Juliette cardigan to wear to a wedding/baby shower in the fall and winter.
Mockneck Bodysuit and Black Pants
For a chic and sophisticated look, pair it with a mockneck bodysuit and black pants. The cardigan’s flowy silhouette makes for the perfect layering piece, while the bodysuit and pants create a sleek foundation for any outfit.

Plaid Skirt and Mockneck Shirt
One fabulous way to showcase your Juliette cardigan is by pairing it with a plaid skirt and mock neck shirt. The perfect combination of effortless elegance and trendy fashion, this look is sure to turn heads.
