If you know anything about winters in Georgia, you know they can be well…conflicted. One day it could be super cold, and the next day could be 60 degrees. However, one thing is for sure, winter is the perfect time to dress casually and comfortably with lots of layers. Today, I’m sharing a roundup of 15 casual winter outfit ideas to take you from work to leisure activities.

15 Casual Winter Outfit Ideas

With today’s roundup of outfits, I’m going to group them into three main categories:

  • Business Casual Winter Outfit Ideas
  • Casual Date Night Outfit Ideas For Winter
  • Winter Casual Party Outfit Ideas

Casual and cozy winter outfits are all about layers and adding different textures to the look. Some great fabrics to wear throughout the winter range from faux fur, leather, suede, satin and cashmere to name a few.

Satin Blouse Styled with Pants or a Skirt

These first five outfits are great options for business casual winter outfit ideas. This satin top is one I featured in my most recent Express try-on haul, and it looks very Zimmermann-inspired without the price tag. It’s a beautiful and unexpected print to pair with skirts or trousers for the office, or you could wear them with a skinny or flare jean for a more cold-weather-casual look.

It’s a versatile top that adapts well from casual to dressy. I’m wearing a small. I’d size up, if you’re in between sizes or want a more forgiving fit.

Peplum Top with Black Straight Pants

Every wardrobe needs a good fitting pair of black straight pants for their workwear wardrobe. These black straight pants are versatile and easily styled with jackets, tops and sweaters. I paired this beautiful brown peplum top that features a ribbing detail throughout with the black pants. Finish the look with basic black flats to keep you comfortable all day long.

V-Neck Sweater with White Straight Pants

These next two winter workwear looks feature a white straight leg pant. The look on the right is more business casual for the winter. Pair a neutral sweater with my favorite work shoes. Then, level up the outfit with accessories.

The second look is slightly more business professional with the pink tweed cropped jacket. The fitted v-neck sweater is a great option to tuck into pants, if you’re wearing it with a jacket. Complete the look with mules.

Monochromatic White Outfit with a Sherpa Jacket

These next five looks are perfect for a winter casual party. Whether you’re going to your friend’s house for a dinner party, out to a local restaurant or another fun outing, these outfits will keep you warm and comfortable.

This white monochromatic look features classic white/cream pieces. These mid-rise jeans are from Walmart and are comfortable and flattering. They aren’t too oversized, but have that straight-leg silhouette that’s on-trend right now. Then, I layered a basic fitted turtleneck under a quilted and sherpa coat. Add a scarf, beanie and gloves, if you’re going to be outside often throughout the evening!

Oversized Sweater Styled with Mules

These two above outfits are as easy to style as they are to wear. Layer an oversized sweater over denim straight leg jeans or white pants for a casual winter outfit. Complete the look with cute mules or a bootie for a fun night out with your girlfriends. I think these two looks would also be great travel outfits.

Neutral Sweater with Split-Hem Jeans

For a fresh take on denim jeans, try a pair of split-hem jeans. These flattering pants are perfect to wear on your next date night, and pair well with a fitted sweater that you can tuck in. I paired this look with a pair of pumps. Booties would also work well for more coverage on the foot for cold winter days.

Shacket Layered Over a Turtleneck

If your personal style doesn’t lean towards flannel, plaid shackets, this eyelet ruffle shacket might be a better option for you. It’s a solid, neutral color with a beautiful eyelet ruffle detail on the sleeve. It’s the perfect mix of casual, yet feminine and classic to go along with the on-trend silhouette of a shacket.

Casual Top with Flare Jeans

We’re rounding out this post with a few casual date night outfit ideas for winter. If you’re on the fence about the Spanx flare jeans, let me tell you, they are worth it! They have the quintessential Spanx way of holding you in without it feeling uncomfortable, and love that they have petite, regular and tall lengths. With flares, it’s not ideal to get them altered because it could mess with the proportions of the flare leg. So being able to customize them just a bit with the length of the leg is a bonus.

These jeans are a great staple to pair with multiple tops for a casual look. The first sleeveless sweater top is a nice surprise. It’s a thicker material with a beautiful, subtle ribbing detail to give it interest. It’s available in multiple colors and wearing a small.

The keyhole top on the right is slightly a-lined, and a bit lower cut than I typically get. But think this doesn’t show too much. I’m wearing a small and would size down, if you’re in between just because of the keyhole detail.

Feminine Sweater with Denim Jeans

This is the perfect date night look to throw on, if you just got off work on a Friday and want to go grab dinner. This cable knit sweater is a casual, yet classy look that features bobbles throughout and a scalloped neckline. It’s on sale for 53% off right now, and a great option to pair with your favorite jeans. Layer on a winter coat, and you’re ready to head out the door.

Mini Dresses with Knee-High Boots

Lastly, we have these two darling dresses that are perfect for date night. The first one is a sweater dress, which is my most worn winter piece that’s warm and cozy. And this may be one of my favorites that Express has ever done. It comes in at the waist and has a thick ribbed band to accentuate the waist even more. The puff sleeves with the pleated detail at the shoulder give this a feminine and luxe look. I got a medium because I didn’t want it to be bodycon.

The floral print dress has a beautiful tan base layer with a bit of a pink undertone. It’s a perfect transitional piece from winter to spring, and paired it with black tights to complement the flowers in the dress. To give my legs the extra cover, I opted for black knee-high boots.
