Here are my first impressions on the Barefoot Blonde Hair fill in extensions. You can shop these hair extensions here!
Recently, I removed my beaded row hair extensions after wearing them for almost a year. And it felt so good to have that load off my head! I’m not going to lie, I was a little concerned going back to my natural hair since I have been so used to the volume. Before getting the beaded weft extensions last year, I wore a halo extensions for all my photos and videos for the last 3 years! So before I got them removed I started looking for something easy and natural to add a little volume to my hair.
It’s not that my hair is super thin, but it’s fine-textured and can easily fall flat. I love hair extensions to add in volume, plus they also help to keep curls in my hair.
I quickly decided on Barefoot Blonde Hair Fill-In extensions and immediately ordered a sample kit. Barefoot Blonde Hair offers a full set of clip in hair extensions if you’re looking for length and volume, but I was looking for something that was my natural length and comfortable to wear all day.
Barefoot Blonde Fill-In Hair Extensions
The Barefoot Blonde fill-in hair extensions are designed to add thickness to the front of your face. You get 2 seamless wefts (6 inches wide) with three clips that easily snap into the sides of your hair.
These extensions come in both 14-inch and 18-inch lengths. I ordered the 14-inch fill in extensions because I’ve contemplated cutting my hair shorter. They just so happen to be the perfect length of my current hair.
With the fill-in extensions, you want to match the length of your hair or at least relatively close (within less than an inch) for the most natural look. You can cut them to get the perfect length if your hair is shorter! The reason you don’t want to use the fill-in extensions for length is there isn’t enough hair to blend them in. They’re meant to be subtle and natural.
With your BFB hair extensions, you also get a blush pouch to store them in. I love how thin and small this is, making them very travel-friendly!
How to Color Match Barefoot Blonde Hair Extensions
I would highly recommend buying the sample kit of color swatches before ordering your extensions. You can get 3-5 color samples of Barefoot Blonde Hair for free, you just pay for shipping. I was pretty confident I would be the Peaches and Cream hair color, but I actually ended up getting the Butterscotch color after receiving my color samples. Below are the colors I selected, just in case you’re looking at the darker blonde shades!
HOW TO MATCH: Match the extensions to the ENDS of your hair, not the ROOT. If you do decide to have your stylist color match them, you only want to dye them darker, not lighter because they have already been processed. If you’re still unsure, you can always send in photos of your hair in natural light to the BFB team and they will help you color match! It doesn’t have to be 100% perfect either. I have some friends that are brunette but purchased a blonde shade to add in lighter “highlights” so it’s really dependent on how you want your hair to look!
How to Apply Clip-in Extensions
These hair extensions are SO EASY, so don’t be intimidated if you’re new to clip in hair extensions. I think the fill-ins are perfect for beginners!
Section off the top of your hair with a clip. You can tease the roots of your hair to give the clips a little texture to grip, especially if you have freshly washed silky hair. I don’t do this usually and have no issue with them falling out, but I do usually have dry shampoo in my roots 🙂
TIP: You can section your hair a little higher or lower depending on the length of your hair. Just make sure you have enough hair on top to cover them. I find that about 1-2 inches above my ear is the perfect spot so I can easily tuck my hair behind my ears.
You want to start the first clip about 1 inch away from the front hairline then work towards the back. It’s ok if they overlap slightly in the back depending on your head size, but mine usually meet perfectly in the center!
HOW TO STYLE AND BLEND HAIR EXTENSIONS
These hair extensions are very easy to blend and can be worn straight or curled with your hot tools. You can use a heat protectant spray on them to keep them healthy. I find that I don’t need to add any product or hairspray for them to maintain curl either. The less product and heat you use on them, the longer they will last. They come with washing instructions and recommend to wash every 30 wears since they don’t get oily like your natural hair.
Here is how the extensions look with straight hair!
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a little extra volume at the ends of your hair, the BFB Hair Fill-In Extensions are the perfect solution. It’s cost-effective (under $75) because you don’t have to buy a full set of extensions. Overall, they are the most comfortable form of extensions I’ve tried due to the seamless band at the top and it’s not heavy. It really feels like my hair but better! I also love how quick and easy they are to apply.
If you’re wanting more thickness and volume, I would recommend a Halo type extension over clip-ins. I’ve tried both and prefer the halo because they’re quick and easy to apply.
