I recently shared a fall capsule wardrobe lookbook, featuring a variety of retailers. However, if you love the convenience of shopping on Amazon, I created a fall capsule wardrobe, using all Amazon clothing. These aren’t your typical Amazon fashion finds. I was impressed with the quality of each piece, and stuck with neutral pieces that are timeless. I think you’re going to love this Amazon fall capsule wardrobe.

How to Build a Fall Capsule Wardrobe
Stick to a Color Palette
When you’re creating a capsule wardrobe, you want the capsule pieces to be in the same color family. That way, it’s easy to mix and match pieces to create multiple outfits. Because if you have two red sweaters and two pale pink pants, it’s going to be difficult to create a stylish outfit with those two colors.
Choose Your Tops
The next step is to choose your tops. When building a fall capsule wardrobe, you want to make sure most of your tops are long sleeve. Below are five staple pieces that you’ll need for tops:
- Tunic-style shirt to wear with skinny jeans and leggings
- Turtleneck for those extra cold days
- A fitted sweater to tuck into your midi skirts and jeans
- Chunky or oversized sweater for a casual look
- White button down to layer underneath a clothing item like a blazer and to wear alone
- Cardigan to layer over tops
Choose Your Bottoms
After you have your core tops picked out, then you want to choose your bottoms that give you both casual and dressy looks.
- Leggings
- Trousers
- Leather skirt
- Midi skirt
- Sweater dress (this can act as a skirt too if you choose to layer a sweater over the top of the sweater dress)
Choose Your Shoes
The final piece to complete your fall capsule wardrobe is to choose your shoes. There are three shoe styles that will get you through the fall season, including:
- Ankle boot
- Knee-high boot
- Loafer

Blazer with Black Leggings
Shop the Look
This fall outfit has such a fun street-style vibe to it. It’s business on the top and party on the bottom. The cream sweater that I have layered underneath the blazer is one of my favorite Amazon finds ever. It’s a Free People look alike, and actually prefer this one over the FP option.
If you haven’t tried these leggings, I highly recommend. They’re a great quality, and very much resemble the fit of the lululemon Align leggings. The length is great (I’m 5’5″), and a great basic black legging to pair with sneakers like these or with a knee-high boot.
Sweater Dresses
Shop the Looks
I love a good sweater dress because they’re easy to style with a variety of shoes. This grayish-blue dress comes in multiple colors and would definitely be bump-friendly. I’m wearing a medium in the photo, but need a small. So I’d say it fits true to size. You can layer a scarf and a jacket over the top if it’s super chilly.
The second option is actually meant to be a sweater and wanted to see if it would work as a sweater dress, but it’s a bit too short. However, if you’re more petite, I think it would work well. I’m wearing a large in the photo. But if you want to just wear it as a sweater, I’d recommend buying your true size and wear with leggings or skinny jeans to complete the look.
Slip Skirt
Shop the Look
A slip skirt is definitely on-trend at that moment, and love this chocolate brown option. A lot of times, slip skirts can bunch up on the sides, but this one lays nicely. There’s also great movement at the knee. I paired it with a fitted ribbed turtleneck. What I love is that the sweater lays nicely underneath the skirt when I tuck it in.
I opted to pair my suede knee-high boots with the slip skirt instead of my leather boots that are very similar in color to the skirt. All three of the pieces – the top, skirt and boots – are the same tone, but don’t look too matchy. Chef’s kiss on this look and the overall fit!
Midi Dress Layered with a Trench Coat
Shop the Look
This midi dress has the perfect fit, and I’m so impressed with it overall. It’s not bodycon, but fits close to the body. So it’s the best of both worlds and is so comfortable. I love the slits on the sides to give more movement to the bottom, and paired with suede knee-high boots. Highly recommend!
To add a layer, add a trench coat to create a monochromatic look. You could wear a darker boot, but think the lighter tones compliment each other. All the different textures really emphasize each piece – the ribbing on the sweater dress, the suede on the boots and the material of the trench.
Cardigan with Denim Jeans
Shop the Look
Everyone needs a neutral cardigan in their wardrobe for the fall and winter time. I shared a similar option here. However, this Amazon cardigan has a little bit more material compared to the other one because the other option is 35 percent wool, so really doesn’t need the extra fabric.
This Amazon option fits more like a coat, and would make a great light jacket throughout the fall too. It features pockets on the sides, and wearing a size small. I styled it casually with a pair of straight jeans and flats, and layered a white bodysuit underneath.
