In a fast-paced world of trends that come and go, neutral home decor will always stand the test of time. There’s something comforting and homey about a palette of soft creams, warm beiges, and grays that effortlessly blend into any space. Neutral hues are a timeless choice for creating a classic look that never goes out of style. A well-decorated space that you feel good about isn’t just about what catches the eye – it’s about what makes everyday life in your home a little more elevated! In this blog post, I’m sharing more about the details of my neutral living room. So, let’s jump in!
Neutral Living Room Tour

The heart of the living room is the couch, right? Our couch is from Basset, and we made sure to get a couch that was made out of performance fabric. Because we knew that we wanted a couch to last us a long time and the season of life we’re in includes toddlers and pets, we went with a performance fabric. And let me tell you, I couldn’t be happier that we did! Any time there’s a spill or a mess made on the couch, we can quickly wipe it down with a wet rag and it’s good as new. Having a couch made of easy-to-clean fabric is definitely essential, regardless of the season of life you’re in.

The centerpiece of our entertainment setup in our living room is our 85-inch Samsung Frame TV. The best part about having a Frame TV is that it doesn’t only have to be a screen, but it can be used as a statement piece. With its sleek design and art mode that transforms it when not in use, it seamlessly blends into our neutral decor. To the left and right of the TV are a few floating shelves, which were left by the previous homeowner. From decorative boxes to frames and bookends, I’ve found that decorating these shelves with items that have neutral hues keeps things cohesive and classic. The media stand is also a custom-built gem that was left behind. We made the intentional choice to keep its surface clear to let the decor on the floating shelves shine. I love the white finish and the neutral aesthetic it adds to the room.

One of my favorite neutral touches of decor in this living room is the faux birch logs in the fireplace. I love that these logs are a low-maintenance way to add dimension to the fireplace while sticking with the neutral theme. You may also spot our fireplace padding, which was fitted for the fireplace in our previous home. I need to reorder a larger one for the new space! For throw pillows, my go-to is always Target. I find that Target is always updating its throw pillow selection with great neutral options that are both affordable and on-trend.

Our ottoman is a classic design I found at the Ballard Designs Outlet, and I’ve rounded up some similar options that I found at other retailers as well. We previously had a round wood coffee table in here, but I moved it to our bedroom once we decorated that space! The ottoman works great for us during this season with little ones. It’s also extra cozy to prop your feet up on. Under the ottoman, I have a marble box that keeps our remotes out of sight, along with some decorative books. On top, I have a round woven tray with kid-friendly decorative items, including some coasters and faux greenery I found at HomeGoods.
I love how the tones of the rug in this space play off the colors of the stone around the fireplace, tying the whole room together. We’ve had it for a few years now and it’s held up great!

Behind the couch, I have a wood console table from World Market. Most of the decor is from one of my favorite local home stores: Linen and Flax. I love keeping the decorative vase filled with hydrangeas during the season, I always get my fresh flowers at Trader Joes! I love using decorative books to add height variation and texture when decorating a space. Adding little touches like this tissue box cover is an easy and affordable way to make your space look more put together.
As far as our artwork goes, I’m extremely lucky to have some really talented artists in my family! Both pieces were made by my talented aunts, Patricia Emmick, and Victoria Jackson, adding a personal touch that makes this space special to us.

Sometimes, Target’s home decor is too good to be true. Yes, those plush upholstered armchairs are also from Target! Not only do they fit perfectly into this space but they are also very durable and comfortable. The natural light through the windows in this room is amazing! It’s like a daily dose of sun that keeps this room feeling bright and airy, no matter the season. Our choice of a neutral color palette is the secret to maintaining a cozy and inviting vibe all year round. So whether it’s mid-winter or the peak of summer, our living room always feels like the perfect spot to unwind and soak in some natural light.
