My favorite trend for fall is the midi or slip-skirt trend. Over the last month, I’ve picked up four skirts and find myself styling them dressed up or down in my recent try-on hauls. Today, I’m showing you how to style this midi skirt from Nordstrom for fall, along with some of my favorite midi-skirt picks in collaboration with Topshop at Nordstrom.
How to Style a Midi Skirt for Fall
topshop midi skirt
This midi skirt is stunning in person. It has the prettiest sheen of creamy blush pink. The skirt has an elastic waistband, so the sizing is forgiving. I’m wearing a 4 here, but would also be fine in the 6. The reason I’m most excited about this trend is because midi skirts are feminine and extremely comfortable.
Wearing a midi skirt throughout the season is a fun alternative to denim or trousers. You can find a midi skirt in just about any material and fit you’re searching for. Whether it’s a more flowy silhouette with a airy cotton material or a fitted silhouette with a sweater, leather or suede material.
Here are more midi skirts or slip skirts from Nordstrom:
I also own the rosy blush slip skirt above. You can see it in my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale try-on haul.
PEARL GUCCI BELT
After paying off my third student loan, I treated myself to this mini pearl Gucci belt. I love how it elevates my outfits. I bought it specifically to wear around my waist because I love to cinch in dresses with belts. I went with the size 75, for size reference.
OUTFIT DETAILS
If you’ve followed the trends for fall, snake print will be very popular this year. In addition to that, you will be seeing a lot of mini bags as well. This bag combines the two, and I just adore it! The tortoise accents on the handle gives it that extra style to make it look more expensive than it actually is. Because the skirt and sweater are similar in color, adding a texture like snakeskin really makes the bag pop.
I love to shop at Nordstrom because of their wide selection, various price points, and free shipping and returns on any order. Topshop is typically under $100 at Nordstrom, and their styles are elevated for the price. If you browse their selection, you’ll find a unique twist to classic styles.
Midi skirts are easy to style. You can dress up this midi skirt with your favorite heels or dress it down with flats or wear a midi skirt with mules, but I love how it looks with my neutral booties for fall.
For an edgier look, you can pair them with combat boots. As the weather gets chillier, I like to style a midi skirt outfit with a chunky sweater. To help break up the look, I front tuck the sweater a bit into the skirt and add the Gucci belt we talked about earlier to accentuate the waistline.
If you prefer dresses to skirts, try wearing a dress in a midi length. A midi length generally means the skirt or dress falls between your ankles and your knees.
topshop v neck sweater
This relaxed neutral sweater looked cute online, but let me tell you, it’s even better in person! Again the shade is the prettiest creamy blush hue. The colors of the sweater and midi skirt are on the same team, but have different textures, making it the perfect monochromatic pair. I’m wearing my normal size small.
If you have a dressy event to attend, pair the midi skirt with a bodysuit and layer a blazer over the top. Finish the look with pumps and a simple handbag. You’ll feel chic and sophisticated.
I added simple jewelry to finish the look. To play off the pearls on my belt, I’m wearing pearl hoop earrings that can be worn with dressy or casual outfits. You could also do a bracelet stack, and roll the sleeves up once, like I did.
Thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring today’s outfit. All items were selected, purchased, and styled by me.
