Summer in the South isn’t pleasant. It’s very hot and humid, so the pieces I’m drawn to tend to be lightweight, flowy fabrics. In today’s post I’m sharing some of my favorite feminine summer pieces to wear throughout the hot summer season.

My style tends to be light and airy, but I have a hard time finding shorts that will work with my go-to feminine style. These white Zimmermann shorts were an initial splurge, but I know the cost per wear will be worth it. They were exactly what my summer wardrobe needed. They’re a light linen material that flares out to give a feminine, A-line shape. I was between size 1 and 2, but I went with the size two to have more comfort when sitting. I may need to take them in at the waist, but I’d rather have that option than be uncomfortable depending on what I ate.

Linen is a great material for the summer months because it’s loosely woven to allow heat to escape while also being structured so it’s doesn’t cling to your body. It’s also a quick-drying fabric, wicking sweat from your body before you even notice it’s there, making it a go-to fabric option for hot environments.

It’s best to hand wash linen fabrics with cold water and to avoid harsh detergents, but it is safe to machine wash linen on delicate, too!

As for my top, this tulle puff sleeve blouse is right on trend for summer 2020. It’s cropped and pairs perfectly with high waist bottoms. I’m wearing the size small. I’m wearing it with my go-to adhesive bra.
