Some days, my skin needs more moisture, sometimes it needs to brighten and exfoliate, and during that time of the month, I need to detox my skin a bit more and fight breakouts. How do you combat all of these skin concerns without constantly changing up your skincare routine? Add face masks!

I love to use a face mask 2-4 times a week to target specific skincare concerns. I look forward to starting my night routine by changing into my pajamas, washing off my makeup (with this yummy cleansing balm) and apply a 10-minute face mask based on what my skin needs. You may be like, what if I don’t know what my skin needs? I’ll break it down for you here!

Thank you, Colleen Rothschild, for sponsoring today’s post

When to use an exfoliating mask?

Use this type of mask only 1-2 times a week to sloth off dead skin cells to reveal more youthful, glowing skin. This pomegranate face mask smells as good as it works! Personally, I use this mask once a week because I do also like to use a face scrub throughout the week as well. You should be using SPF daily, but if you don’t already you definitely want to if you add AHA products into your routine.

When to use a detoxifying face mask?

This detoxifying mask is one of my favorites because unlike other clay-based masks I’ve tried this one doesn’t dry out or irritate my skin. I think because of the added vitamin C and added ingredients to soothe skin. It has a combination of charcoal and clay to draw out impurities in your skin while silver helps fight bacteria that cause breakouts.

I use this mask anytime I feel my pores are clogged, or around the time of the month when I get breakouts. Sometimes, I even spot treat with this before bedtime. You can leave it on for 10 minutes then I like to rinse it off with warm water and a washcloth for added exfoliation. Use 1-2 times a week for clearer looking skin.

When to use a brightening mask?

Use a brightening mask 2-3 times a week when your skin just needs an extra boost. This is the next mask on my skincare wishlist! I’m interested to try it since it includes turmeric. I think that it will be perfect to target the redness in my skin.

When to use a hydrating mask

This is the type of mask I use most often. I love going to bed with extra hydration because dry skin is more prone to wrinkles. I have combination skin, so it can go from oily mid-day to dry and flaky by the end of the day. It’s crazy! I personally like to sleep with a hydrating mask throughout the night. In the morning, my skin is less red and my makeup goes on much smoother!

Detoxifying Face Mask

Those are the 4 types of face masks I add into my routine each week depending on what my skin needs. After traveling so much recently. I’ve been switching between the hydrating mask and a detox mask. Just assess how your skin is feeling that day and you can’t really go wrong with any of these four! I also wanted to share this mini mask set, which is perfect to try out all three or give as a gift this holiday season. I talk a lot about Colleen Rothschild skincare products because I see real results without irritating side effects. I’ve been using them since April and I love that they aren’t formulated with hazardous ingredients including Parabens, SLS/SLES Sulfates, Phthalates, Triclosan, Formaldehyde, etc.

Thank you so much for reading!
